Solana Mobile reportedly intends to launch a second cryptocurrency-enabled smartphone, according to a person familiar with the matter cited by CoinDesk.

Solana’s first phone, Saga, was designed to provide a seamless interface for cryptocurrency transactions and decentralized applications (dapps), making it easier for users to manage their digital assets on the go.

Although initially criticized for its US$1,000 price tag, Saga compensated owners with complementary crypto assets, including ones that were later airdropped. Saga’s successor will reportedly be cheaper.

Solana is known for its blockchain which supports a wide range of decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and services.

It has the second-highest sales volume for non-fungible tokens with over US$4.7 billion, behind Ethereum’s US$42 billion, according to CryptoSlam data.
